Post-Intelligencer readers voted Karonel's Kars as the Best Used Car Dealer this year. Karonel's also won the award from 2005 to 2007. The car lot was opened by Karonel Plott in 1981 and currently operates with a staff of three employees. At one point, Plott opened a second car lot on Highway 79 southwest of Paris, but closed it in 2001. Plott said that his philosophy is specializing in good, clean cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles that can be priced under $5,000. The car lot also sells golf carts seasonally. "What sets us apart is that our cars are so clean," Plott said. "You can't buy a car under five thousand dollars that's as clean as the cars we have." Plott handpicks the vehicles for his car lot, many of which are new car trade-ins. He listed another reason for his dealership's win was likely his reputation for honesty. "We tell it like it is," Plott said. "If we know something is wrong with a car we don't try to cover it up. We tell the customer up front and let them make the best decision." Recently the Karonel's Kars Web site has been completely redesigned and new features have been added. "It's gonna be pretty neat, I think," Plott said. That site is www.karonelskars.com.
